Animal sculpture has constituted one of MEISSEN's great artistic achievements ever since the days of master modeller Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775), the figurines produced often taking the potential for working porcelain to the very limit. Max Esser (1885-1945), one of the most important plastic artists and animal sculptors from the early 20th century, continued in the great Kaendler's tradition, but instilled his figurines with a completely new momentum. To mark Esser's 140th birthday in 2025, MEISSEN is now reissuing a work of his from 1938. In contrast to figurines such as the famous "Seagull", Esser did not depict his graceful pheasant in motion. Instead, he devoted himself entirely to a detailed rendition of the animal's eyes and the way it holds its head. The bird attentively observes its surroundings, its wings folded, in a state of apparent calm and relaxation. Rendered the pheasant entirely in the white and mounting it on a black base helps bring its inherent nature out to the full. Esser ran his own studio at the manufactory from 1919 and took charge of the master studio in 1923. He was very fond of depicting animals in a somewhat stylised manner. His work is to a large extent defined by the competing spheres of decorative and naturalistic depiction, of curvilinear surfaces and realistically elaborated detail with the aid of which he immortalises a moment in a given animal's life.

In the case of taxing the parcel by customs service, the expenses are borne by the customer.

1. For products that are available in our showroom in Karlovy Vary - delivery is carried out during maximum 3-4 weeks;

2. For products that are not on stock in our showroom in Karlovy Vary:

* LLADRO / AIDA / LOBMEYR / AZ-DESIGN / HG ATELIER: maximum 2 months for the production of the order + maximum 2 weeks for delivery;

* MEISSEN / HEREND / SOHER: from 6 to 12 months for the production of the order + maximum 2 weeks for delivery;

After your application for ordering a product through our online store, we will contact you via e-mail or phone to provide you with more information about the anticipated date of delivery and ways of payment of the order.

* ROBBE & BERKING: 2 weeks for the production of the order + maximum 3 weeks for delivery.

We will try to arrange delivery at the most convenient time for you, upon prior contact with you.

Due to the particular fragility and value of the assortment of our online store, we are very attentive to the careful packaging of the products that you order. Our packaging protects products from moisture and damages and allows you to get items safe and sound.

In the unlikely and unfortunate case of receiving a broken product, we kindly ask you to notify us about this within 24 hours, providing your message with pictures and description of the problem. In this case, we will request you to send it back (at our expense) and try to replace it as soon as possible.

Please note that the parcel must be opened in the presence of the courier. In case of any damages, you can return the parcel to the courier service.
