At the beginning of the 20th century, the animal sculpture of the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory (Porzellanmanufaktur MEISSEN) experienced a brilliant renaissance, capturing not only the beauty and strength of the animal world but also the unfathomable depths of the animal soul. On the occasion of the 150th birthday of Paul Walther (1876-1933), his figurine group "Peacock and Hen" is being reissued in a strictly limited edition of 25 pieces. With subtle painting, typical of the early 20th century and masterfully executed by Andrea Freytag, the group depicts a scene of natural elegance and symbolic power.

The peacock, a symbol of beauty, pride, and spiritual transformation for centuries, is also regarded in many cultures as an emblem of eternity and wisdom. In Walther's composition, the peacock raises his radiant blue neck majestically while perched on a branch. The long feathers of his splendid train hang downward, yet the delicate greenish painting reveals the full magnificence of his plumage. Below him sits the hen, less colorful as so often in nature, providing a quiet contrast that makes the appearance of the peacock all the more striking.

Paul Walther, a member of the Dresden Artists' Association of 1913 and one of the most productive modelers of the Meissen manufactory, ranks among the most important sculptors of the 20th century. In his Meissen studio, he created around 200 models, many of them animal sculptures that remain classics to this day, admired for their sensitive yet powerful expression, natural elegance, and meticulous detail.

The figurine group "Peacock and Hen" unites all these qualities-a work of art that fuses natural fidelity, symbolic depth, and masterful porcelain artistry into a timeless highlight of Meissen's animal sculpture tradition.
