The oeuvre of Emil Paul Börner (1888-1970) is unique and of lasting significance for the history of the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. As one of the leading designers and painters of the early modern period, he played a decisive role in shaping the manufactory's formal vocabulary during the 1920s and 1930s.

The lidded vase "Hibiscus and Fruits," created by Börner, is considered an exemplary work of early Art Déco. Known for his stylistic versatility and his ability to unite tradition with modernity, he designed here a form that combines clarity and elegance. Now this icon returns to the manufactory's collection in a strictly limited reissue of 25 pieces-an artistic statement bridging past and present.

The floral decoration, executed by Steffi Wobeda in the finest handcrafting tradition, follows the legacy of Meissen's renowned fruit and flower painting. It presents a classical still life: at the center bloom radiant blue and white hibiscus blossoms, accompanied by luscious oranges and a cluster of freshly picked grapes. On the reverse, a late-summer arrangement unfolds with ripe figs and exotic physalis with leaves. The result is a harmonious interplay of natural vitality, color intensity, and artistic precision that elevates the vase into a unique work of art.

Börner's clear design language, evident in the subtly serrated rim of the lid, merges with the masterful decoration to form a work of exceptional art historical importance. It reflects the stylistic transformation within the Meissen manufactory while also capturing the spirit of an era in which craftsmanship and applied arts ventured onto new paths.

The refined lidded vase "Hibiscus and Fruits" is therefore not only a masterful porcelain object, but also a significant testament to Meissen's design history-an homage to Emil Paul Börner's artistry and to the manufactory's living tradition of painting.
