The opulent vase was created based on a design by Paul Georg Eras and Emmerich Andresen from 1895 and has been reissued for the 2019 "Limited Masterworks" collection with new decorative painting and sculptural overlays. The vase represents an era in which the manufactory's style was dominated by historicism - a period that represented are turn to Meissen's rich heritage, and one in which new designs and decorative images freely quoted from earlier epochs . In this period, countless porcelain pieces were created in a variety of neo-styles . This richly decorated Baroque showpiece was created for the World's Fair in Paris in 1900, which was the largest exhibition of its kind at the time, and even overshadowed the Olympic Games that year. The in tricate reliefs and structural elements are lavishly plated with gold; countless structural overlays depicting a variety of dahlia blossoms are arranged on the expansive, rounded form. The filigree flower petals are individually shaped and applied by hand using precise embossing techniques. In contrast to the vase's opulent shape, the delicate flowers are painted on in pastel hues. The naturalistic dahlias, which were designed specifically for this vase, are applied with the finest possible brushstrokes. The painting on the surface of the porcelain and the subtle staffage of the sculptural flower elements, which also feature restrained colouring, marry sculptural elements and decor to create a harmonious whole.
