The traditional Kokeshi mascots are considered to be very popular souvenirs from the amazing and unique country of the sun Japan. In total, there are 11 different ones. The Spanish masters of the Lladro porcelain factory released four of the central Kokeshi figures in 2013.

The main feature of these charming dolls is their shape: a cylindrical body without arms or legs and a rounded big head. In a certain way, these Japanese Kokeshi dolls are the prototypes of the Russian “matryoshki”. In Japan, they are made usually of wood or from polymer clay. The first of these dolls appeared more than 300 years ago. Bright kimonos, floral ornaments, the mandatory presence of black, crimson red and golden colors have traditionally been considered the basic elements of these mascots. In Japan, there has long been a belief that if children play with these dolls, it certainly will make a positive impression on the gods, because a divine spirit lives in each Kokeshi. Kokeshi dolls were put in the nursery cradle, in order to guard babies and bring them health and happiness. The faces of the puppet were usually painted by hand. They expressed various human emotions: happiness, curiosity, interest, joy, hope, etc.
